It is designed to keep us upright, with an erect spine and good posture. The core muscles are there to keep our ribs and organs safe.

For this reason, exercises like sit-ups might be a tad overrated. Here at Ardent fitness we spend time on carries and static holds to compliment the traditional sit-up or toes to bar. This grows a strong core and teaches our body how to brace. to stay upright.

Carrying heavy loads, squatting, and picking up heavy objects off of the floor all require more core strength than a sit-up. Sit-ups are a great way to get the volume in and feel the burn, but nothing will create a big strong core like static holds, carries, and weightlifting.
